With the aid of emulsifiers most silicone fluids can be transformed into emulsions. The stable dispersion of the oil droplets in water is obtained when the interface is homogeneously covered with emulsifiers. Silicone emulsions help to evenly distribute the active components, for example the silicone defoamer in small quantities - see surfactants.
