Adhesion

Silicones' excellent adhesion properties are a product of the chemical bond between organic polymer matrices and substrates that are traditionally difficult to adhere to, like glass, metal and stone. This chemical bond is many times stronger and more reliable than the mechanical or physical bond other adhesion promoters provide and is the reason why silicone-based adhesives have great weatherability.

The chemical bond means that silicones can adhere to surfaces where other products that rely on physical bonds will fail. What's more, silicone adhesives and sealants can withstand highly acidic or basic chemicals, water and organic solvents.

Products

Silicone-based adhesives are used in a vast number of products within the construction, automotive, aviation and marine industries where they must hold crucial systems together under considerable stress. Products from these industries benefit from the ability of silicone-based adhesives to enhance weatherability and perform in wet and dry conditions.
