Lubrication

Silicone lubricants, based on fluids, pastes or greases, are designed to reduce friction between two bodies in contact such as plastics, rubbers, metals and glass. Good lubrication is essential, sometimes under extreme conditions of temperature and mechanical stress: car starter motors work even in the coldest winter weather, taps do not seize or leak, moving mechanical parts do not over-heat and remain intact.

Silicone lubricants are used in gearboxes, viscosity clutch systems, diffusion pumps and food processing amongst many others things. They are used for sewing yarns - they limit increases in temperature due to friction and avoid deterioration of the yarns - and to ensure the safety and correct operation of diesel motors by damping the vibrations that they produce.
